Ode to Tyra Banks

I have taken to doing stuff in my sketchbook whilst watching old America's Next Top Model reruns. As I seam to be doing a lot of at the minute- I have spliced in bits of the oracle that is Tyra Banks next to other random bits through my book. I think im very funny. She comes out with some hilarious crap.

Have been working in my old school, as Iv mentioned, at the Games Week in the art department.

Was back down in London this weekend. Hadn't realised how glad I am that I'm going back in September. Love it. Will miss the sarf east init.

Buisness man with laundry is probably my absolute favorite of his work, not particularly because I think its the best photo he has tacken but because it has so many layers and bits you don't realise at first glance. I probably think this because I used it as a starting point for some work I did on foundation, and I really loved and ran with the different suggestions it has going on. Like the look in his eyes like he's been caught, the fact hes so well dressed so why does he have his laundry there in the street? the angle like it was taken at an opportune moment, I think it has connotations of the economies crash and the bankers all loosing their jobs, a wealthy man that looks homeless? lots of things.



I think I'm listening to too much Iron and Wine and The Gaslight Anthem, and am getting pangs of wanting to travel across middle America as well, and photos like these are what Im in the mood for. (Doesn't help that my best friend is galavanting in Africa at the minute.) Next year? Year after? coast to cost I think.

Kid logic

Working at this summer school I met a little boy who is so inteligent and astute for his age and completely understands painting for the sake of painting and not trying to make it look like anything in particular, which is hard to convince the younger ones of, he has a system, and an order to his thoughts though, and make paintings in series' where they chart the progress of the end result, so doing one, adding something, doing another the same as that then adding, and when he lays them out to dry he doesnt oder them left to right and then down like we normaly do (in the west anyway) he lays them right to left, and then up. Its incredible to watch, really interesting. And he gets when things just work, and you don't need to say why or add any more which is amazing at his age. So I did this wee sketch book thing, very rough but I was thinking about what I'd seen him do, and doing a lot of random type and selecting bits of quotes to write next to images in my sketchbook, often at random leading you to think they have some link to the image, they may do afterwards which is interesting. Backwatds approach to things like this kid.
